Huawei’s marquee device, Nexus 6P was launched in September 2015 in partnership with Google and it is quickly became the contender for the “Phone of the year” award. The ‘P’ in Nexus 6P stand for premium and this phone from Huawei contains everything which really proves its premium tag. Huawei has already proved themselves by launching great phones worldwide. The China-based company is working with leading U.S. brands and coming in this highly competitive market. You can know more about Huawei on its official website.
Nexus 6P comes in three colors: Frost (White), Graphite (Black) and Aluminum (Silver). As we unbox the phone, you will have Nexus 6P, USB Type-C cable, USB type A to type C cable, 90 days free trial of Google Play Music and manuals.
I am using this phone since last month and I am absolutely impressed by the design, hardware, software, camera and the awesome fingerprint scanner. Here are the top 5 points why you should go for Nexus 6P.
(1) Stock Android – Pure android which everyone like
Nexus 6P is running stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow which means that it comes clean and not with a lot of unnecessary features and apps which you never use. Nexus devices are always the first one to receive updates from Google itself contrary to other devices which take months to get updates. Also, you are the first one to get your hands on Marshmallow which is not released for other devices yet.
With “Google Now” on tap, you can get quick information without leaving the app by holding the home button. Google uses your active screen information to show related details, apps, and actions, places, people, movies, and more.
(2) Rapid Charging with Type C connection
Nexus 6P actually comes with the newer USB to USB type connection, USB Type C connection that goes into the wall charger. It also comes with the shorter USB Type A to USB Type C connection so it can be compatible with the existing set of chargers that you have. It has got 3450 mAh battery which last for 2 days of normal usage.
USB type C supports fast charging so that you get 6-to-7 hours of use just by charging for 10 minutes. With fast charging, your battery can go from 0 to 100% in just 90 minutes. Android 6.0 is using sensors to recognize when the phone is not being used (Face down on a table or in a bag). When it is not being used, the phone refreshes things in the background more slowly and less often to save battery. This feature enhances battery power and barely use power in standby mode.
(3) Secure your Nexus 6P phone using fingerprint
It only takes about five or six taps on the fingerprint scanner to identify your finger impression. It is used to unlock the device and it does it very fast and accurate. I am using it since last month and I can say that 99% of the time, it worked perfectly fine for me. It is very convenient and secure way as I don’t have to use any pattern or code to unlock my phone. As it is located on the back of the phone, I don’t have to put any extra effort to unlock the phone while getting it from the pocket.
Apart from the unlocking device, you can use it for making purchases on Google Play, Android Pay. With time to come, it will evolve and we will see more usage of a fingerprint scanner.
(4) Premium specs at fair price
The Nexus 6P has a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, large 5.7″ QHD AMOLED display, 32-64 or 128 GB of memory, dual front-facing speakers, and a 3,450 mAh battery. These awesome and high-end specifications turn out to be a very good deal considering it’s very fair price ($499 for 32 GB). It is extremely responsive.
The design of Nexus 6P is very new for the Nexus line because it has flat sides around this 5.7-inch screen that help to grip the phone pretty easily. Its dual speakers on the front side provide great sound. It comes with the QHD display and has Gorilla glass 4 for a stronger, more shatter-resistant screen.
(5) Camera
It has a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera which is highly adaptable for all sorts of conditions. You can launch the camera app just by pressing power buttons twice. The sensor captures more light than any other on the market and larger pixels help your pictures shine in any condition. I am very impressed with the quality of front facing the camera and its wide angle lens which covers a lot of things into the frame. So this is the perfect phones for the people who are obsessed with selfies. It also handles low and artificial lighting really well. It is somewhat slow with its focus and it doesn’t have optical image stabilization which is bit on the lower side, but overall the camera is awesome.
Contract phones are cheaper up front, but you end up paying much higher than uncontracted phones. Moreover, you feel like you are grilled with various charges like monthly rate, monthly access fees, activation fees, etc. In contrast, uncontracted phones give you more freedom to choose / switch from one network carrier to other or change to a month-to-month plan. Huawei now gives you the freedom to choose a new way of experiencing mobile. Huawei aspires to become a leading unlocked wireless solutions alternative in the U.S., and they are committed to providing consumers new wireless solutions they expect, premium customer service they deserve – all at an accessible price that people can afford.
Nexus 6P is available as the unlocked device and will work on all major carrier networks in the US. Huawei premium products including Nexus 6P are available to purchase online.
