“I am within coverage area and my phone has no service.” “My phone says no network available since that last hour.”
Are you facing any such similar issues with your mobile phone? Recently a friend of mine asked a very critical question “Why does my phone say no service even when the phone is in working condition?” Often I received similar questions by our visitors too where their phone loses network connectivity simply without any reason when they are in house. Now there can be certain reasons for this issue. Mobile phones are mechanical objects and a number of defects can occur in their mechanism. But still every issue has its own solution and so does this. Here we will tell you a number of fixes for the ‘mobile network not working’ problem.
Why is my mobile network not available?
There can be certain reasons for an unavailable network on cell phones.
- Probably you have removed the SIM card and not inserted it properly.
- In case you are facing this while roaming then check whether your data roaming is turned on/off.
- Might be some technical issue from your cellular network.
How to fix mobile network not available?
(1) Restart phone or reinsert SIM card to access network services
Most of the time mobile network problems occur due to the technical faults in your mobile network service provider. In that case either you need to wait for sometime or reinsert the SIM card in your cell phone. Most likely it can be fixed by restarting your mobile phone also. This is the most universal reason why your mobile network is unavailable.
(2) Remove your battery
Sometimes this happens due to battery issues. So switch off your phone for 2 minutes and remove the battery > reinsert it again after 2 minutes and switch it on again. Now you can expect to get back your cell phone network.
(3) Set mobile network Automatically
If the above solutions doesn’t work out then try this. Check you mobile network settings by opening Wireless and Network settings. Now tap the Mobile Networks > Mobile operators and select ‘Automatically’. Your network will probably reverse back.
(4) Try the manual way (including on iPhone models)
If the problem still persists then try searching for service manually. Go to Wireless and Network settings > Mobile networks > Mobile operators > Network operators > Search networks. Select your cell phone service provider or a supported network and check back again.
(5) Check Airplane mode
Probably there is no mobile network due to your Airplane mode settings. See if your phone’s Airplane mode is turned on or off. If it is turned on then your phone signal will disappear. Most of the time it is mistakenly turned on due to finger touch so make sure your Airplane mode settings is turned off.
(6) You are out of coverage area
Now if you are standing in a remote or out of coverage location where your cell phone service provider is not supported then it is obvious that you will be without any network connectivity. In that case your phone will not display any network signals and this can be sorted out only when you come out of there.
(7) Mobile network not available during roaming
When you are in roaming it is obvious that you will face several connectivity issues. Signal issues are one of the major causes and to fix that you’ll need to check your Android phone’s data roaming settings. Go to Settings > Mobile networks > turn data roaming on.
(8) Check your device’s firmware update
Many times signal issues occur due to downgraded software. When your Android phone has an update available it will send a push notification to you. In case you don’t receive any such update then you’ll need to check that manually. To check it, go to Settings > About device > Software update > Check for update.
(9) Try Factory reset
If it is still not fixed then probably your phone has get into a critical stage. Now try factory resetting your phone but make sure before doing it you back up all your important data from the phone. Go to Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset.
Resolving mobile network not available issue on Blackberry phones
If you own a Blackberry phone then, besides trying out these solutions, you can also try the Android battery saver. Firstly install an Android battery saver or juice defender or a battery long-live app. Go to anyone of these apps and turn off the mobile network and then enable the battery saver. Then again re-enable the mobile network option. When this is done uninstall the battery saver app from your Blackberry phone. This is likely to resolve the mobile network problems.
Resolving mobile network unavailable issue on Samsung Galaxy
Network issues on Samsung Galaxy can also be resolved with some specific techniques. Open the dialer on your Samsung Galaxy phone > Dial *#*#4636#*#* > a testing menu will be displayed > Tap on click phone/device information > Tap on Run Ping test > Select GSM Auto (PRL) from the list > Tap on ‘Click Turn off radio’ > Restart your phone. Your connection will supposedly revert back.
We ensure these solutions will work out and relieve you from the question ‘Why does my phone say no service’. Most probably restarting your phone and reinserting your SIM and battery will resolve this issue. When your phone battery is overheated due to your phone usage then turn it off for some time. In rare cases, you might need to change your battery but if this issue isn’t that complicated then the basic techniques will work out. So try out these methods and start retrieving your cell phone network again. And in case your problem still persists then call up your service provider’s 24 x 7 customer care centre and get this issue fixed. You can apply above solutions on any mobile phones like HTC, Huawei, iBall, Idea, Intex, Josh, Adcom, Adcatel, Asus, BQ, Lenovo, LG, Maxx, Micromax, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Gionee, Karbonn, Lava, Lemon, Xiaomi, Xolo, Zen etc.
If you have any questions or want to share any other solution apart from these then please share it in the comments section.

Yes, of course turning the Samsung Galaxy off and turning it back on fixes the network-not-available message. The point is not to have to do this when I want to make a call. And no, I did not remove the sim card. To my knowledge it just happens, unfortunately often enough that it is very annoying. Also, no one can call me either and I have no idea my phone is not working. It’s a problem to have an unreliable phone.

Yes. Its a compatibility problem. I faced the same problem and tried all the technique to resolve it. The one technique which finally worked for me is as follows:
1. Remove existing Vodafone sim
2. check it in other phone.- found ok.
3. Insert airtel sim in my one plus x – and found ok. Airtel Is working in one plus x.
4. remove the airtel sim and insert the Vodafone sim back in one plus x .
5. That’s it problem resolved. network restored.

I struggled for 2 days to resolve this. And the solution was so simple.
Besides doing all the recommendations (except the hardware part) I was just making a backup of my cell phone with idle mind. And there I found an option.
Go to Settings -> Back up and Reset
Scroll down
Go to Network Setting Reset.
Then reset your cellular network. And bingo. It worked for me. I was able to make calls and use my cellphone in normal mode.
